CAPE TOWN - Communications Minister Faith Muthambi says she's not been personally informed she could be facing court action.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) will be taking the Communications Minister to court over her decision to appoint Hlaudi Motsoeneng as the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC)'s Chief Operations Officer (COO).

There's been public outcry following her decision.

Muthambi faced a rash of questions during her pre-budget vote media briefing about her decision to appoint Motsoeneng.

The minister has been in the firing line since the controversial move, with the DA now looking to the courts to intervene.

But Muthambi has downplayed the matter.

"I have not been notified personally, as a minister."

An earlier probe by the Public Protector found Motsoeneng lied about his academic qualifications but Thuli Madonsela's office is looking into the appointment in a fresh probe.
