Over 60 Nigerian girls escape
Media reports suggest that over 60 girls escaped from their Boko Haram kidnappers.
NIGERIA - According to media reports, over 60 kidnapped Nigerian girls escaped from their Boko Haram kidnappers on Monday.
The AFP news agency spoke to a high-level security source based in Maiduguri who confirmed the escape.
It's believed the girls made their escape when Boko Haram attempted to attack a military base in the town of Damboa.
News agencies believe the raid is a reprisal attack by the terrorist group as retribution for air strikes 24 hours prior.
Boko Haram is still holding 200 school girls they kidnapped in the dead of night at a school in the town of Chibok in the Borno State in April.
