Quality of matric certificate examined

CAPE TOWN - A ministerial task team set up to investigate the quality of the matric senior certificate said it's important its findings help matrics make good future decisions after school.

Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga commissioned the team following backlash about the quality of the matric certificate.

Task team chairperson, professor Brian O'Connell said the certificate needs to reflect the type of learner coming through the system.

"We must also look at how the NSC is able to differentiate between people and their abilities so that they make the best choices for other options rather than seek the university option."
