Gang targetting Stellenbosch farms
Police have confirmed there have been at least two farm robberies in the area over the past week.
CAPE TOWN - A national private security company on Friday said it believed a gang was targeting Stellenbosch farms in well-orchestrated attacks.
Police confirmed there have been at least two farm robberies in the Stellenbosch area over the past week.
The security company also confirmed it received increased call-outs to farms over the past six months.
TSU Private Security Company CEO Chris Beukes says his clients have described the gang of four as polite.
Beukes says the group is reportedly armed with knives and do not hurt people who don't resist them while ransacking homes.
"The guys working with balaclavas are in fact a gang working in the area."
A Stellenbosch farmer's wife believes the intruders have been operating in the Winelands for a while.
"It's always the same people. They speak English, they steal guns, money and jewellery."
She adds her family live in fear as the early evening attacks are becoming more frequent.
