Chiefs announce Mthembu signing
The 2013/14 Premier Soccer League runners-up made their first signing of the off season.
JOHANNESBURG - Kaizer Chiefs on Thursday announced the signing of Platinum Stars striker Siphelele Mthembu.
The player signed a three-year deal with last season's Premier Soccer League (PSL) runners-up.
The 27-year-old, who is nicknamed 'Shaka Zulu', joins Levy Mokgothu as the second new signing at Naturena.
The Glamour Boys are looking to build a squad capable of challenging 2013/14 season champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
Meanwhile, fellow Soweto club Moroka Swallows also added to its striking department with the capture of Kenyan forward Kevin Omondi on a two-year deal.
PSL champions Sundowns have already added seven players to their roster.
But Masandawana could be set to lose a striker with news that Zimbabwean forward Kudakwashe Mahachi has gone on trial with French Ligue 1 club Monaco.
