CAPE TOWN - Northern Cape police have arrested two Cape Town men after they were caught with a truckload of abalone worth about R5 million.

The pair were travelling from Cape Town to Johannesburg and were arrested during a roadblock on a weighbridge on the N1 near Colesberg on Monday.

The police's Sergio Kock says after confiscating the abalone, police also impounded the truck.

He describes the arrest as a major breakthrough.
