Support for CT gang boss at court
The suspected kingpin along with five others were arrested in connection with a gun licence racket.
CAPE TOWN - A small group of people have gathered outside the Cape Town Magistrates Court in support of an alleged gang boss.
The suspected kingpin along with five others, including three police offers, are due to appear in court again today.
They were arrested in connection with a gun licence racket following a sting operation last week in Cape Town and Pretoria.
Two women believed to be the sister and girlfriend of the alleged gang boss have already been released on bail.
The disgruntled group stood outside the court, with demonstrators holding placards, calling for his release.
Some posters also read, 'He is not a fighter or threat to society, he has a legitimate business', while other placards had messages accusing local police of feeding the media relating to his arrest.
Police kept a close eye on the group and even asked protesters to move at one stage.
But they stood their ground, saying they would not be intimidated and were not a threat.
