Senior Tshwane officials face suspension
The two senior officials are accused of tender fraud and various acts of misconduct.
PRETORIA - Tshwane City Manager Jason Ngobeni on Friday set in motion steps to suspend two senior officials allegedly involved in tender fraud and various acts of misconduct.
A municipal council committee on Thursday ordered him to institute steps against the officials with immediate effect.
City of Tshwane Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Andile Dyakala has been implicated in fraud relating to a printing tender issued by the municipality.
Ngobeni says while officials are considered innocent until proven guilty, suspending them immediately emphasises the city's commitment to accountability and clean governance.
His own subordinate, Tshilidzi Nemahagala, the strategic executive director in his office, also faces suspension.
Nemahagala faces numerous charges of misconduct, including insubordination, harassment, intimidation, absenteeism and dereliction of duty.
Ngobeni said the employees had a week to explain why they shouldn't be suspended.
