Plea bargain finalised in Heyns case
Juan Liedeman has been fined R10,000, half of which is suspended over five years.
CAPE TOWN - A plea bargain has been finalised for a man implicated in the murder of a Stellenbosch doctor.
Juan Liedeman was arrested for being in possession of Doctor Louis Heyns's vehicle.
He appeared in the Western Cape High Court today, along with his co-accused, brothers Marthinus and Sarel van der Walt.
Liedeman has pleaded guilty to a charge of being possession of stolen property and has been fined R10,000.
Half of the amount has been suspended for five years, unless he falls foul of the law again.
The van der Walt brothers allegedly murdered the Stellenbosch paediatrician last year.
Their trial is expected to start in October.
They'll remain in custody until then.
