Eddie Zondi to be laid to rest

Fans, dignitaries & celebrities are expected at UJ’s Soweto campus to pay their last respects.

JOHANNESBURG - A funeral service for radio personality Eddie Zondi is being held at the University of Johannesburg (UJ)'s Soweto campus this morning.

The 47-year-old South African radio legend passed away last Monday, after complaining of chest pains.

He was a presenter at Metro FM for 18 years.

Hundreds of dignitaries, celebrities and fans are expected to descend on UJ's Soweto campus this morning, to pay their last respects to the legendary radio personality.

South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago says he will be laid to rest at the Westpark Cemetery in Randburg.

"The procession will move from the UJ Soweto Campus to Westpark Cemetery and then back to UJ."

The ' Romantic Repertoire' host leaves behind his wife and their three young daughters.
