SA govt pushes for 'black bourgeoisie'
Jeff Radebe says this will be one of the focus areas of the state’s planned talks with big business.
CAPE TOWN - Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe says government wants to create a patriotic black bourgeoisie.
Radebe says this will be one of the focus areas of the state's planned talks with big business.
Shifting ownership, control and management of the economy from white hands is part of the government's radical economic transformation programme.
Radebe says implementing employment equity and black economic empowerment policies will be sharpened.
"One of the focus areas of our engagement with business will be improving the implementation of the Black Economic Empowerment Act and the Employment Equity Act, in order to transform the ownership, management and control of the economy."
In Marxist philosophy, the term bourgeoisie denotes the social class who owns the means of production and whose societal concerns are the value of property and the preservation of capital, in order to ensure the perpetuation of their economic supremacy in society.
