From shot stopper to meat slicer
Andre Petim was released by Ajax and is now working in his family's business...a butchery.
CAPE TOWN - Ex-Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper Andre Petim has swopped his goalkeeper cloves for plastic ones as he is now working in his family's business... a butchery.
Petim was released by the Urban Warriors at the end of last season and is still on the lookout for a new club.
He did not play for Ajax last season as Annsi Jaakkola and youngster Brandon Petersen were favoured in goal.
The Finnish keeper has been a revelation for the Parow team and was even up for the PSL Goalkeeper of the season.
Petim got his football career going at Vasco da Gama but then moved to Ajax and was promoted from the youth team when he was just 19.
He along with his two brother's and father have four butcheries around Cape Town.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with EWN Sport Petim says he is enjoying the career change.
"Going to a butchery and seeing people cut meat the whole day compared to running around the soccer field is like chalk and cheese. But you know I have actually quite enjoyed getting up in the morning and having the responsibility of going to a butchery and running it a bit."
