JOHANNESBURG - Police have arrested Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir's accountant who is allegedly involved in a number of crimes, including conspiracy to murder.

The 32-year-old man, originally from Bulgaria, was arrested in Benoni on the East Rand last night.

He is apparently responsible for all of Krejcir's business transactions.

He will answer to fraud allegations and charges in connection with the murder of Phumlani Ncube, a Zimbabwean debt collector, who was shot dead at a farm in Heidelberg in July.

The police's Solomon Makgale said, "The investigators were working on the matter and they discovered he was involved in almost every alleged crime against the Czech, so he'll be charged accordingly".

Meanwhile, problems with legal representation delayed proceedings at Krejcir's trial yesterday, forcing a postponement until July.

Krejcir and five other men face charges of dealing in drugs, attempted murder and kidnapping.

The group is accused of kidnapping and assaulting an East Rand man in June last year after an alleged drug deal went wrong.

However, two of the accused do not currently have legal representation.

This led the court to provide them with a month to obtain private lawyers or representation from the Legal Aid board.
