JOHANNESBURG - Premier Soccer League (PSL) teams are already reinforcing their squads in the build-up to the 2014/15 season which begins on the weekend of 8-10 August.

The biggest move since the window opened on 1 June has seen Issa Sarr transfer from Platinum Stars to Orlando Pirates. The Senegalese midfielder joins on a three-year deal and will provide competition for Oupa Manyisa and Lehlohonolo Masalesa in the Pirates engine room.

Promoted side Chippa United have also been busy in the window with players coming and going from the side. Players to be released by the club include the goalkeeper duo of Mbongeni Mzimela and Sean Roberts, midfielder's Mfundo Shumana, Solomon Okpako and Brent Carelse.

While incoming players for the Chilli Boys' include 2013/14 National First Division top scorer striker David Zulu, who joins from Black Leopards, and Zimbabwean defender Eric Chipeta. A potential new signing could also be veteran striker Chris Katongo. Katongo will become a free agent when his deal with Golden Arrows expires at the end of the month.

Chippa CEO Peter Koutroulis confirmed interest in the player and admitted negotiations were ongoing.

"He is an experienced player. I believe he has a couple more years in top flight football. We are busy but can make an announcement very soon about if we have signed him or not."

Mpumalanga Black Aces have also strengthened their side with the purchase of Zimbabwean midfielder Peter 'Rio' Moyo on a long-term contract from Highlanders FC. He was one of the stars for the Zimbabwean team as they reached the semi-finals of the African Nations Championship in January.

In addition to a new player, Aces have also secured the services of a number of their first team squad with Clifford Ngobeni, Sandile Zuke, Bafana Nhlapo, Mbulelo Mabizela and Esau Mtsweni all extending their stay with AmaZayoni.
