CAPE TOWN- Law enforcement agencies have been working together to curb the growing crime problem in George in the Southern Cape.

This comes after the George Community Policing Forum (CPF) expressed concern over an increase of crime in recent months.

A 66-year-old woman was attacked by a man with a garden fork in her home in May.

At the same time, taxi boss Tom Queba was shot and killed on the Thembalethu N2 near George.

The 47-year-old died en-route to hospital.

The CPF's Jonathan Gelderbloem says the police and community members are conducting street patrols as a crime preventative measure.

"We want higher police visibility of in different areas."
