Cosatu might picket against Metrorail
Cosatu says an increase in fares isn’t justified because the state of the Metrorail service in CT is poor.
CAPE TOWN - The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) in the Western Cape says it may call a strike to oppose an increase in Metrorail ticket prices.
The trade union federation believes the rise in fares can't be justified, due to the poor state of train services in the Cape.
New Metrorail ticket prices come into effect next month.
Cosatu's Tony Ehrenreich says, "Cosatu has a Section 77 file that's in existence because of train services. We're reinstating that so that we can take legal strike action against Metrorail for their deteriorating services."
