Bloemhof Dam: Health dept awaits results
Three babies died and several others were rushed to hospital after ingesting water from the dam.
JOHANNESBURG - The North West Health Department said it expects to receive results confirming the source of a water contamination in Bloemhof Dam by the end of this week.
At least three babies died from drinking water unfit for human consumption.
Another three others are in a critical condition and were transferred to a facility in Klerksdorp to receive specialised healthcare.
The health department's Tebogo Lekgethwane said cholera has been ruled out for now.
"The Manageable Diseases Institute will help us with the testing and give us results."
