Two dead in Joburg shack fires

JOHANNESBURG - Two people have been killed in two separate fires in Joburg.

In the first incident a 40-year-old man died after a fire broke out in his shack in Zandspruit.

Emergency services's Robert Mulaudzi says four other homes were affected by the blaze.

In northern Joburg, a man has died after his shack caught fire earlier today in Lion Park.

"He was burnt beyond recognition in one of the shacks. About four other shacks were destroyed in the incident."

Mulaudzi says the cause of the fire is still unclear.

"Another 24-year-old died due to smoke inhalation."
