JOHANNESBURG - The Gift of the Givers o Friday told Eyewitness News that Pierre Korkie has been spotted in Yemen.

Pierre and his wife Yolande were taken hostage by al-Qaeda militants in Yemen a year ago.

Yolande was released in January to raise her husband's R30 million ransom but failed to do so, leaving the family fearing the worst.

Tuesday marked the one-year anniversary since he was abducted, with Yolande recording a message thanking those who have supported the family.

Last week, she released a new video appeal begging for his release.

Meanwhile, barefoot runner Zola Budd says she is competing in this weekend's Comrades Marathon in support of Korkie, her former coach.

She will run with a yellow ribbon on her vest to gain support for him.

"The Comrades is the perfect opportunity to raise some awareness, especially among athletes," she says, adding, "He's got a very good reputation as a coach."

The Korkie family say they have been fasting and praying for his safe return, with the reports of him being sighted raising their hopes further.
