Burger unlikely to make Stomers match
Schalk Burger injured his neck against the Cheetahs at the weekend.
CAPE TOWN - It's highly unlikely Schalk Burger will make the Stormers squad for Saturday's meeting with the Sharks in Durban.
Winger Kobus van Wyk has already been ruled out of that game with a wrist injury.
He will join regular captain Jean De Villiers on the sidelines.
De Villiers will miss the remainder of the Stormers' campaign due to a knee injury.
Burger injured his neck against the Cheetahs at the weekend and coach Allister Coetzee says he's 50/50 at this stage.
"If everything else has settled in his neck… At this point in time it's a muscle related thing and he is a doubtful starter. I am planning without him."
Meanwhile, while Coetzee says van Wyk is only likely to return in July.
"Kobus van Wyk has re-injured his wrist, so he's is out for this weekend. It will definitely be fine after the break, so we're looking at a three week injury."
With De Villiers ruled out for the remainder of Super Rugby, Coetzee is confident they will be fine without their captain.
"It's just good to know we can adapt and it's about being able to adapt. I think we are coping and we are coping with our leadership."
