Zille wishes Brown well
The former Western Cape premier has been appointed as minister of public enterprises.
CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Premier Helen Zille on Monday wished her predecessor Lynne Brown well in her new position as Minister of Public Enterprises.
Brown received news of her appointment on Sunday when President Jacob Zuma made his Cabinet announcement.
She will take over from Malusi Gigaba, who will now be Home Affairs Minister.
Brown says she is looking forward to the new challenge.
"It's a portfolio that is probably an anchor of economic development in this country. I am excited and overwhelmed."
Meanwhile, nominations for the Democratic Alliance (DA)'s parliamentary caucus closed earlier on Monday.
Mmusi Maimane is vying for the post of Parliamentary leader after Lindiwe Mazibuko announced she is leaving the party to study at Harvard University in the United States.
Fellow Member of Parliament (MP) Makashule Gana has decided not to stand, despite having the support from some in the opposition party.
He says he would rather learn the ropes in Parliament as an ordinary member first.
