JOHANNESBURG - Police are monitoring the situation in Magaliesburg on Gauteng's West Rand after a violent service delivery protest erupted in the area on Wednesday afternoon.

Eight people have been arrested and will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates court on Thursday.
Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini says officials are aware of the situation.
"The police used rubber bullets to disperse the crowd. The eight people arrested will appear in court."
