Pistorius will be outpatient at Weskoppies
Murder accused Oscar Pistorius must report to Weskoppies on Monday for a 30 day evaluation.
PRETORIA - Murder accused Oscar Pistorius has been referred for a 30 day psychiatric evaluation at the Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital in Pretoria as an outpatient. Picture: Pool.
Last week, Judge Thokozile Masipa ruled that he be sent to an institution to be evaluated to determine if his Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) played a role in his actions.
Today, Masipa ordered that Pistorius report to the facility at 9am on Monday 26 May to start the programme.
"The accused will remain at Weskoppies Hospital until 4pm daily or until he's formally excused by the medical superintendent of the hospital or the person designated by the medical superintendent."
The state applied for the application after defence witness Dr Merrryl Forster testified that the Blade Runner had GAD.
The athlete shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp last year and claims he mistook her for an intruder.

The medical panel will establish whether the accused is, by mental illness or defect, criminally responsible for his actions.
The panel will also seek to establish whether Pistorius appreciated the wrongfulness of his conduct.
