Weskoppies inmate escapes from hospital

PRETORIA - Eyewitness News understands a man being held at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital for observation has escaped from custody while being treated at the Kalafong Hospital in Atteridgeville.

Ray Pahlo kidnapped his seven-year-old daughter from her Pretoria school in December 2012 but was arrested with five accomplices just days later.

Murder accused Oscar Pistorius was today referred to the psychiatric facility for observation.

The stepfather of the girl kidnapped two years ago says police informed them of Pahlo's escape earlier today

It's understood he feigned an injury and was transported to the Kalafong for treatment.

He escaped custody and is now on the run.

Social workers have told his ex-wife they should be on alert because he poses a threat to the child.
