Elderly George woman stable after attack
The woman was attacked by a man with a garden fork at her home on Friday.
CAPE TOWN - An elderly woman is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after she was attacked by a man with a garden fork in the Southern Cape.
The 66 year-old woman, who'd apparently hired the man for the day to tend to her garden, was attacked at her home in George on Friday.
She sustained several wounds to her head and upper body and managed to alert a passing police van after the suspect fled the scene.
The police's Malcolm Pojie says "We have to make a breakthrough soon, he still is on the run. He is known to our detectives. We have opened a housebreaking and assault CVH docket for further investigation."
