CAPE TOWN - Independent Electoral Commission chairperson Pansy Tlakula has handed over the provincial and national lists of political parties' candidates who will be taking positions in Parliament and provincial legislatures.
Chief Justice of South Africa, Mogoeng Mogoeng, received the lists at a ceremony at the Constitutional Court.
The lists will now be handed to the secretary of Parliament.
Tlakula said this marks the final step of the elections.
"We've reached the conclusion that the effort yielded a result of 830 candidates, of which 42 percent are women and 58 percent are men."
Last week Tlakula thanked all parties for participating in the provincial and national elections.
She also took time to thank her staff for making the elections possible.
