Eskom: No power cuts for winter
Eskom said the rolling blackouts that hit SA in March were not expected during winter.
JOHANNESBURG - Eskom has said the rolling blackouts that hit South Africa in March were not expected during winter.
Yesterday, the utility appealed to customers to cut down on electricity consumption, saying power demand was at its highest point this year.
Eskom's Andrew Etzinger said the grid was severely constrained because of generator problems.
"In summer we had the rotational load shedding, both in 2008 and 2014. In winter the peak is very short and high and if there was load shedding it would be for a short time."
