CAPE TOWN - The Environmental Affairs Department said the Kruger National Park remains a hotspot for rhino poaching.
The 245 out of the 376 rhino poached so far this year have been found dead in the Kruger.
The department's Albi Modise said officials are hoping a new agreement with Mozambique will help curb the scourge.
"The number of rhino is 376 and in 2013 we lost 1004 rhino with the highest number recorded in Kruger National Park with 606."
