US students robbed in PTA
30 American university students were robbed on a tour bus by four armed men.
JOHANNESBURG - The United States Embassy has confirmed 30 American university students have been robbed at gunpoint on a tour bus in Pretoria.
The students, who are from the Stevenson University in Maryland, were held up by four armed men on Sunday.
The robbers made off with cash, electronics and travel documents. No one was injured.
US embassy spokesperson Jack Hillmeyer said, "We are aware of the incident but our privacy considerations prevent us from talking about any specifics. We take the safety and security of Americans overseas very seriously and the US State Department has a lot of information to assist with Americans overseas."
The police's Neville Malila says authorities are investigating the incident.
He says no one was injured in the incident and no arrests have been made at this stage.
