JOHANNESBURG - The Hawks are investigating the possibility that more people are involved in a syndicate selling fake temporary vehicle registration permits.

Police arrested five people in Pretoria at the weekend, four of them at car dealerships.

They're accused of selling counterfeit permits for R2,500 each.

The Hawks' Paul Ramaloko said the syndicate had a noticeable effect on the City of Tshwane.

"Tshwane has lost millions of rand because of these activities. The investigation continues and we hope to make more arrests."
