MARIKANA - Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema called for an end to violence, urging disgruntled South Africans to use the elections as a tool to effect change.

Malema was speaking to striking platinum mineworkers in the North West.

He said burning tyres will not solve anyone's problems.

"Let's go and teach them a lesson by voting them out because the tyres will not change the government. You are contributing for the ANC to remain in power."

Furthermore, the EFF leader said South Africa has enough money to be shared by all people who live in it.

Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula received a hostile reception in Freedom Park last month while campaigning for the ANC.

Malema proved to be a lot more popular in the area.

He praised Amcu president Joseph Mathunjwa for his fight for higher wages on the platinum belt.
