CAPE TOWN - Residents of an informal settlement in Philippi have again warned a self-confessed child murderer not to return to their community.

Alvin Van Der Berg confessed to killing his 12-year-old daughter just hours after her body was found last week.

Community members have threatened to kill the 43-year-old man should he be released on bail.

Outraged locals have already destroyed his shack and torched his belongings.

Van Der Berg is expected back in the Wynberg Magistrates Court on Thursday, where he may apply for bail.

The case against him was postponed last week, giving him time to consult with a lawyer.

Meanwhile, the little girl was laid to rest in the Eastern Cape at the weekend.
