JOHANNESBURG - Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir and five others will today go on trial in the High Court in Johannesburg for the kidnapping and attempted murder of an East Rand man.

Members of the police and Hawks are also accused of assaulting the man after a failed multi-million rand drug deal.

Krejcir has been fighting to get out on bail since his arrest in November.

But his applications have been turned down four times, with his most recent attempt last month.

While the controversial businessman was awaiting trial, additional charges relating to other crimes were added.

He is now also facing a murder charge for the death of Zimbabwean debt collector Phumlani Ncube.

Krejcir is also being investigated for an alleged plot to murder two investigators.
