JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance (DA) is preparing to hold the final rally of its election campaign this morning at the Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate, Johannesburg.

Thousands of supporters are expected to pack the venue over the next few hours for the Vote for Jobs Rally.

For now, the hall is still filling up but supporters have begun singing songs and chanting, "Zille for president".

The entire inside is draped in blue, with massive posters of Helen Zille, Mmusi Maimane, Lindiwe Mazibuko and Patricia de Lille looking down on the sea of plastic chairs.

Once the event is underway, Zille and Maimane are expected to take several swipes at the ANC, arguing that the DA is a viable alternative to the ruling party.

The rally, which will run from 10.30 to 1pm, will also be broadcast on SABC 2 as well as the SABC News channel, ANN7 and eNCA on DStv. On radio, it will be broadcast on SAFM, Lotus FM, Ukhozi FM and Umhlobo Wenene.

The country will go to the polls on Wednesday, 7 May.
