Klate: Our focus is the Nedbank semi-final

Daine Klate says winning the Nedbank Cup would be a huge confidence booster for the Bucs.

JOHANNESBURG - Orlando Pirates midfielder Daine Klate has called on his teammates to just focus on the semi-final against Maritzburg United.

The Buccaneers will take on Maritzburg in the last four of the Nedbank Cup looking to end their season of on a high with a trophy.

But Klate says while the team is targeting silverware, they need to get win the semi-final first.

"For now the focus must be the semi-final. I don't think we are thinking about the final at the moment. We have to try and focus on the job at hand which is the semi-final."

Klate has also discussed the importance of a trophy win for Pirates after a difficult season.

The team has already been to three finals but have yet to win any.

Klate says a trophy win is good for team spirits heading into a new season.

"It's a make or break for us at this point in time. It's a perfect set up. We've been talking amongst ourselves that if we can lift this Nedbank Cup it will help our momentum into the new season and the MTN 8."

Kick-off is at 8:15pm on Saturday.

In another semi-final, Kaizer Chiefs will take on Bidvest Wits at Bidvest Stadium.
