Eskom office upgrade 'long overdue'
The utility has been criticised for the upgrade which is expected to cost R500m.
JOHANNESBURG - Eskom says upgrades to its head offices in Johannesburg are long overdue.
The utility has been criticised for its plans to refurbish the offices for at least R500 million.
But spokesperson Andrew Etzinger says they cannot postpone the upgrades any longer.
"Our building is 35-years-old and is in desperate need of refurbishment and we need to go ahead with it. At the moment, the building is in violation with health and safety requirements and we can't postpone this anymore."
