Post-mortem: Rhodes student was shot
On Saturday officers were called out to a shooting at Cullen Bowles house residence.
CAPE TOWN - Police have now confirmed a student who was found dead at a Rhodes university residence, sustained a gunshot wound to her upper body.
On Saturday officers were called out to a shooting at Cullen Bowles house residence in Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape where they found the bodies of 21-year-old student Amanda Tweyi and 34-year-old Nkosinathi Nqabisa.
Police initially said Tweyi had no visible injuries to her body, while it's suspected her boyfriend Nqabisa committed suicide.
The police's Luvuyo Mjekula says a post mortem has been conducted.
"She was actually shot, and this was confirmed by the post-mortem. The wound was not visible at the time when police were called to the scene."
Trauma counselling has been made available to students following the death of one of their peers.
