Fishermen to return home after vessel sunk
The crew was rescued from a sinking fishing vessel on Saturday.
CAPE TOWN - The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) says arrangements are being made for 20 Cape Town fishermen to return home after they were rescued from a life raft near Plettenberg Bay.
The crew was rescued from a sinking 23-meter long liner fishing vessel on Saturday.
It is believed the crewmen sprung a plank on the wooden hull, resulting in the vessel taking on water.
The NSRI's Craig Lambinon says, "The fishing vessel has sunk completely. The fishermen were brought to Port Elizabeth in the early hours of this morning. All 20 members are safe, they are not injured."
