CAPE TOWN - A fourth suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of a Klapmuts policeman, Western Cape Police Commissioner Arno Lamoer confirmed on Thursday.

Warrant officer Steven Britz was gunned down during an armed robbery at the Klapmuts police station.

Three other suspects, including a suspended policeman, are already in custody.

Lamoer was speaking at Britz's funeral service in Brackenfell, Cape Town, on Thursday.

"We've arrested a fourth suspect last night. We will make sure they never see the outside of a prison cell."

The suspended officer and another man appeared in court in connection with the incident this week.

The officer's fingerprints were allegedly found at the crime scene.

A third suspect was arrested on Wednesday.
