Williams gets Super Rugby chance
The Western Province youngster will start at left wing for the Stormers this weekend.
CAPE TOWN - Western Province's leading try scorer in the Vodacom Cup, Devon Williams, will get his first start for the Stormers this weekend against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.
Williams made his run on debut against the Lions last week.
He comes into the starting line-up for the first time as a replacement for the injured Sailosi Tagicakibau on left wing.
Coetzee says Williams has proved he deserves the chance.
"Devon has proven his worth. He had a good season with the Under-21's last year and is the top try scorer this year in the Vodacom Cup as well. It's a great opportunity for a young player like Devon and it shows that if you do well, you will be rewarded with an opportunity."
Coetzee says now is the chance for Williams to prove himself as a Super Rugby player.
"I know everyone has been writing about Devon Williams and he has his chance now. I'm really happy for him and I think that Devon has settled in nicely. It's a great opportunity for him and we're all looking forward to seeing him play this weekend."
In other changes, fullback Jaco Taute is also back in the starting line-up, with Peter Grant returning to his more conventional position at flyhalf.
Schalk Burger, Kurt Coleman, Kobus van Wyk and Oliver Kebble have all returned to fitness, each earning a place on the bench.
