Petrol price could go down
A decrease of between 10 and 15 cents has been predicted for May.
CAPE TOWN - It appears motorists can expect some relief as there may be a small petrol price drop on the cards in May.
A decrease of between 10 and 15 cents has been predicted for now.
An official announcement by the energy department is expected on Friday.
The petrol price rose by seven cents a litre this month.
Economist Dawie Roodt said, "Chances are good for a reduction in petrol price and it's good news, but if you add up all the accumulated increases that we've seen in the last months it's just a drop in the ocean."
Motorists are now paying a record R14,39 for a litre of petrol after the price increased by seven cents a litre.
The latest hike comes on the back of a recent 36 cents hike for one litre of petrol in early March, pushing prices above the R14 mark.
