Elections 2014: Did ANC abuse state resources?
Madonsela's office has received three complaints that the ANC is abusing state resources.
JOHANNESBURG - Public Protector Thuli Madonsela's office says separate preliminary investigations and meetings have been scheduled to deal with three complaints it's received about claims the ANC is abusing state resources.
It's received two complaints from AgangSA, one relating to the distribution of mattresses in Valhalla Park in Cape Town, and another about the erection of billboards by the Gauteng provincial government allegedly in the ruling party's corporate colours.
Madonsela's spokesperson Oupa Segalwe says the Public Protector will investigate the complaints.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance (DA) is taking the ANC to the Electoral Court for the alleged abuse of state resources for political gain.
The DA served papers to the party's Western Cape leader Marius Fransman and the CEO of the South African Social Security Agency Virginia Petersen yesterday.
It claims the ruling party is distributing food parcels funded by taxpayers at ANC election rallies.
