Group calls for SASSA tender probe
The Constitutional Court in Johannesburg last week overturned the tender.
JOHANNESBURG - Corruption Watch on Tuesday called on police to investigate the unlawful awarding of a R10 billion tender by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) to Cash Paymaster Services. (CPS)
The contract was CPS to distribute social grants.
The Constitutional Court in Johannesburg last week overturned the tender after finding Sassa committed serious irregularities.
This related to the awarding of the tender.
The group's David Lewis says the matter must be probed urgently.
"The South African police should be investigating it. In fact, they should have been investigating it for a long time. We're really urging them to look into it. It would be extremely disturbing if they chose not to."
