CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town says it will assist the family of three people who died in a shackfire in Mfuleni in Cape Town yesterday.

A father and his two children died in the blaze.

Authorities say the three were unable to escape the blaze which engulfed their informal dwelling.

Disaster Risk Management's Wilfred Solomons-Johannes says, the circumstances surrounding the fire haven't yet been determined.

"The City of Cape Town has deployed our disaster response agency to assist."

Meanwhile, over 200 Hout Bay residents were left homeless earlier this week after a fire swept through the Imizamo Yethu informal settlement.
