Major breakthrough after police station attack
An officer has been arrested in connection with the murder of warrant officer Steven Britz.
CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Police are shocked following the arrest of a police officer in connection with the murder of a fellow officer in Klapmuts.
The man, along with nine other suspects, was arrested yesterday in connection with the crime.
Authorities say the detective constable's fingerprints were found at the scene.
Forty four-year-old warrant officer Steven Britz was gunned down while on duty at the local police station on Wednesday.
Five firearms were stolen from the gun safe.
Western Cape provincial commissioner Arno Lamoer says the man's arrest comes as a shock.
"For all of us at the police service, it's really a shock that one of our own police officers is possibly involved in the killing of another police officer."
