PRETORIA - Mamelodi Sundowns extended their winning streak to eight matches when they beat Mpumalanga Black Aces 1-0 in an entertaining Premiership match at Loftus last night.

Elias Pelembe scored the only goal of the match from a Tebogo Langerman assist.

However both teams missed numerous scoring opportunities, something that Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane was quick to comment on.

"It's was a tough game as Aces are known as the 'giant killers', but we managed to scrape through and got the points, but honestly the score wasn't a reflection of the game because it could have been three or four goals and that's why the goalkeeper won man of the match title."

Despite walking away with maximum points in his past eight league matches, Mosimane still maintains that there is still a long way to go before the Brazilians can win their first title in seven years.

"We're not the favourites. But the games are lessening and we rather play for the points."

Meanwhile, Aces coach Clive Barker has praised the performance of goalkeeper Bafana Nhlapo.

The back-up keeper was in superb form as he denied Sundowns on numerous occasions after he replaced Jackson Mabokgwane.

"He epitomises what is good about Aces. He gets all the singing going and he's the team man. He played a good game and when he made the first save of Teko Modise in the corner that lifted him, it was fantastic and I'm proud of him."

The Brazilians are currently number one on the PSL log with 58 points.
