CAPE TOWN - Proteas batsman David Miller believes a solid collective performance from the Kings XI Punjab will ensure they win the Indian Premier League (IPL) title.

The T20 cricket showpiece gets underway later today when defending champions the Mumbai Indians take on the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Miller, whose Punjab side play their first game on Friday against last year's finalists the Chennai Super Kings, believes T20 cricket is very unpredictable.

"Even if you have a really good team, you can still do badly. We just want to take each game as it comes, and try to be mentally ready for each game. If we can individually do what we need to do, I think as a collective we will do a lot better."

Having played for Punjab since the 2011 edition of the IPL, Miller says he wants to achieve big things with the Kings XI this year.

"There's a lot of hype around it, and a lot of responsibility, but it's really good to be part of it. We're looking forward to hopefully winning the competition, but we'll take things one game at a time."

Miller says being part of the IPL is wonderful.

"I love the whole vibe here. In India there are a lot of different cultures, so I'm meeting a lot of people, and playing with guys that have played a lot of international cricket. I really enjoy spending time with guys that you wouldn't really get a chance to chat to or get to know."
