Grant shifts to fullback for Lions clash
Stormers coach Allister Coetzee has made a surprise change to his starting line-up.
CAPE TOWN - Stormers coach Allister Coetzee has made a surprise change to his starting line-up for Saturday's clash against the Lions at Newlands.
He named Peter Grant at fullback.
Demetri Catrakilis returns at fly half and also takes over the goal kicking duties from Grant, who has struggled with the boot so far this season.
Coetzee says Grant has worn the number 15 jersey for the Stormers before and is confident the 29-year-old can contribute to the side.
"He's done it before, he's played at 15 in Japan and he played most of his Maties days a couple years ago at 15. I have no doubt in Peter's composure at the back and his physicality there."
The coach admits Grant's poor goal kicking is the reason for the switch.
"Admittedly, he is not as confident as he used to be with this goal kicking. This is an opportunity to give him time to get back into things. There's obviously a tactical plan as well with him at 15. Hopefully the tactics will work."
Coetzee made five changes to his side for Saturday's match.
Nic Groom replaces Louis Schreuder at scrumhalf and Jean de Villiers returns from injury to captain the side.
Damian de Allende shifts to wing.
