'De Jager deserves the death penalty'
Judgment against murder accused Johannes de Jager has been postponed to 29 April.
CAPE TOWN - The mother of 16-year-old Charmaine Mare, who was allegedly killed and dismembered by Cape Town man Johannes de Jager, says he deserves nothing less than the death penalty.
While de Jager denies killing the teenager, he has admitted to chopping up her body, after she allegedly hit her head against a bath in Kraaifontein last year.
Today he sat whispering to his lawyer in the dock while Charmaine's mother Katrina wept in the bench behind him.
Katrina flew to Cape Town from Mpumalanga to attend today's proceedings.
The 16-year-old's mother says de Jager must rot in jail and she will never forgive him.
"They must bring the death penalty back. They must put him away."
De Jager, who has testified to having a drinking problem, has also denied killing 18-year-old sex worker Hiltina Alexander.
