'Vigilante attacks in Khayelitsha rise'

At least seven people have been killed in attacks linked to vigilantism over the last two weeks.

The Social Justice Coalition says it fears vigilante killings in Khayelitsha are once again spiralling out of control.

CAPE TOWN - The Social Justice Coalition says it fears vigilante killings in Khayelitsha are once again spiralling out of control.

At least seven people have died in mob justice attacks in the area in less than two weeks.

In the most recent incident, two people were found murdered at the weekend.

The organisation's Phumeza Mlungwana says she suspects the number of attacks could be higher.

"I think we have police issues in Khayelitsha that make it hard to combat crime or try to promote safety with the resources that they have. Let us try to make sure that they do that. Let us try to make sure that we always give instructions that attempt to promote safety and work with the police."
